Players of Borderlands 4 can now take advantage of a newly released update by Gearbox, aimed primarily at resolving issues related to the Gilded Glory cosmetic pack. Fans of this looter shooter have shown appreciation for the fresh release of Borderlands 4, which has revitalized a franchise that seemed to lose traction after the lackluster Borderlands 3, the poorly received 2024 film adaptation, and ongoing controversies involving Gearbox CEO Randy Pitchford. The game’s new planet, Kairos, enhanced comedic focus, and responsive first-person shooter gameplay have been well received.
Like most AAA releases, users who preordered Borderlands 4 received the Gilded Glory Pack, featuring an assortment of cosmetic items for in-game use. The pack offers flashy white and gold skins for all four of Borderlands 4’s Vault Hunters, a classic psycho mask, a unique skin for the player’s Echo-4 drone, legendary weapons, and an additional matching weapon skin. However, some reported difficulties with the preorder pack, which Gearbox quickly addressed in this latest update.
To consult Gearbox’s new update notes, the update, while minor, is significant. It enhances performance on PC, improving stability and addressing crashing incidents linked to GPU issues and specific animations. The problems involving the Gilded Glory pack, wherein certain items would incorrectly emerge from loot chests in Borderlands 4’s expansive world, have been resolved, along with a glitch that rendered the in-game “Reward Center” useless post-claiming of the pack.
Despite the improvements, certain critical bugs remain. One particularly troublesome glitch is causing players to lose all their skill points, resetting their skill trees. This has notably affected cooperative players. Compounding the frustration is a memory leak issue that decreases frame rates during extended play sessions, forcing players to frequently restart the game for relief.
Alongside this day-one patch, Borderlands 4 has yet to receive a comprehensive update addressing numerous vital bugs. However, it has only been a week since launch, so fans hope Gearbox will soon unleash a more substantial update to remedy these concerns.
