Overwatch 2 Introduces Major Changes with Mid-Season 18 Update

Overwatch 2's Season 18 reaches its midpoint with significant hero updates, events, and gameplay adjustments.

The mid-season updates for Overwatch 2’s Season 18 have been rolled out, featuring a host of new changes including the addition of Tracer to Stadium, numerous hero balance adjustments, and the initiation of exciting in-game events.

On August 26, Overwatch 2 commenced its Season 18, launching the Stadium Quick Play mode. This fresh update brought significant gameplay enhancements, introducing the unranked Stadium mode that supports crossplay, along with revisions to the character Roadhog and resets to competitive ranks.

This latest patch revitalizes Overwatch 2 for the second half of Season 18 by introducing Tracer to the playable roster—a beloved character. Additionally, two time-limited events commenced with the update: the Persona 5 crossover featuring new skins and challenges, and the Overwatch 2 Anniversary Event, which resurrects popular game modes and offers players exclusive rewards including Epic and Legendary Loot Boxes as well as unique skins.

As expected, Overwatch 2 also implemented numerous hero balance changes; Ramattra, Roadhog, Torbjorn, Widowmaker, and Brigitte received buffs, whereas Tracer, Genji, Wuyang, and others faced nerfs to balance gameplay. Blizzard ensures that the second half of Season 18 remains packed with engaging content for players, promising a broad spectrum of activities to explore.
