Skate Players Experience Major Server Troubles
Players of Skate are facing server and connection issues upon the game's early access launch, leading to frustration among fans.
Gamers have encountered significant server and connectivity problems with Skate. These issues coincided with the game’s early access release date, causing frustration among those eager to play.
After fifteen years without a new title in the franchise and five years since its announcement, there was immense excitement surrounding the launch of EA’s Skate. This time, the game is free to play, attracting numerous players quickly. However, it appears EA underestimated the high levels of interest.
EA’s Skate Faces Launch Day Server Problems
Skate launched in Early Access on September 16. Almost immediately, players reported connectivity and server difficulties. Many gamers experienced extremely long queues, with some sharing screenshots showing they waited behind more than 25,000 other players. Others reported being in queues with over 50,000 players ahead. The prolonged wait times have led some fans to abandon hope for the day and hope for improvements as initial crowds calm down.
Players who managed to successfully download Skate and bypass the queue did not enjoy a seamless experience. Complaints of connection errors have been common, with players sent back to the queue. Others reported encountering infinite loading screens after completing the initial tutorial. Remarkably, one player noted that once they reached their spot in the queue, the game indicated no internet access, placing them in a significantly longer wait.
Many players have criticized the reliance on online-only gameplay, especially since previous installments allowed offline play. While it’s expected for high-demand games to have lengthy queues at launch, those who do not wish to engage in online features have expressed increased frustration due to connectivity issues. Fortunately, players can expect improvements shortly, as the Skate development team acknowledged the game’s demand and committed to adding more servers to decrease wait times. At the time of publication, a growing number of players reported success in accessing the game, though many still face challenges with maintaining a stable connection.
