Co-op Roguelike Shape of Dreams Launches Amidst Silksong and Borderlands Buzz

Shape of Dreams achieved remarkable sales on its launch weekend despite competition from major titles.

Indie roguelike Shape of Dreams sold over 100,000 copies within its first 24 hours on Steam, garnering a peak of over 30,000 concurrent players. Even amidst the hype for Hollow Knight: Silksong and Borderlands 4, it secured a position in the top 10 on the top sellers chart.

In response to this strong launch, developer Lizard Smoothie released a hotfix to address early feedback regarding balance and progression. Lizard Smoothie’s CEO, Eunsop Shim, stated, “Many fans have been with us since the release of our demo, and we want to continue to deliver an experience worthy of their passion and support. We also have plans for more updates and new content in Shape of Dreams. Please look forward to announcements from us in the future!”

Shape of Dreams offers both singleplayer and co-op for up to four players, blending MOBA and roguelike mechanics in a rich dreamscape filled with enemies where you can collect and upgrade abilities. At launch, players can explore eight accessible characters, each with the ability to mix over 100 memories and essences for customized gameplay.

As described by players, the game is mildly challenging but rewarding, especially in co-op mode. A free demo is available, and the full game is 20% off on Steam until September 24.
