This Quake 2 Mod Merges Elements from the Original Game and its Sequel, Featuring Hybrid Enemies
A new mod for Quake 2 combines characters from both the original and sequel, offering unique gameplay experiences.
Call of the Void has been released.
Quake and Quake 2 are widely recognized for their differences; the first is steeped in gothic fantasy while the latter ventures into industrial sci-fi. Notably, the latest release, Call of the Machine, incorporates elements from both games, showcasing hybrid enemies that unite their worlds.
This creative mod, named Call of the Void, is a fan-made episode that continues the narrative begun by Call of the Machine. It skillfully intertwines character designs and enemy types from both titles to create a unique gaming experience filled with monstrous hybrids.
Comprising five extensive maps, the mod introduces a mix of scenarios from both franchises. While it’s unclear whether these maps directly replicate or draw inspiration from previous levels, the story premise involves an alliance with deities from the first game, offering a humorous and absurd setup after the Strogg’s interferences.
Fans can download Call of the Void here, ensuring it’s compatible with the Quake 2 Remastered, complete with new levels and enemies and a custom soundtrack that elevates the gameplay experience.
