BioShock Film Faces Extended Delays, Release Pushed Beyond 2027
The release of the BioShock film adaptation is postponed due to director Francis Lawrence's busy schedule, with a potential wait until 2027 or later.
The adaptation of BioShock is progressing at Netflix, but fans should brace for an extended wait. The film’s release has been pushed into 2027 or beyond due to the busy schedule of director Francis Lawrence. In a conversation with Roy Lee, it was disclosed that the movie’s script is currently being refined. Other projects, like the next Hunger Games film, are prioritizing Lawrence’s time, which means filming for BioShock is delayed until his commitments are fulfilled.
Lee stated, “Well, ‘The Long Walk’ became a reality because ‘BioShock’ was delayed for a bit where we had to do some more script work. And so, as the script work is being done, we shot ‘The Long Walk’.”
The Hunger Games prequel, focusing on Haymitch Abernathy, is already filming and is expected to premiere on November 20, 2026. Given this timeline, it’s likely that fans will have to wait a while longer for any updates on the BioShock film, with the production still requiring significant input in casting and filming after the script is finalized.
