Roblox Addresses the Trend of Charlie Kirk Assassination Games

Roblox is taking action against user-created games depicting the assassination of Charlie Kirk, emphasizing its commitment to community standards and safety.

Roblox is removing user-generated games that reenact the assassination of Charlie Kirk. A senior company representative explained that this decision aligns with existing platform policies, stating that Roblox is not a space for promoting hatred against any individual or group.

“Roblox is no place for promoting hate against any individual or group.”

On Wednesday, September 10, Charlie Kirk was tragically killed during a speech at Utah Valley University. The following day, Rep. Anna Paulina Luna (R-Fla.) reported being informed of a Roblox game referencing the assassination. She expressed her intent to inform Apple to delist the app if the problematic content wasn’t removed promptly.

Roblox Moves to Eliminate Charlie Kirk Games

Within an hour, Luna announced that the platform was working to eliminate all user-generated content depicting the assassination of Charlie Kirk. Roblox Corporation founder and CEO, David Baszucki, confirmed this in a statement, noting that their Community Standards expressly prohibit content that reenacts violent events or promotes hatred against any person or group.

Over 100 Roblox Experiences Featuring Charlie Kirk Assassination Were Already Removed

Baszucki termed himself ‘saddened’ by Kirk’s death and encouraged users to report any games they believe violate the platform’s policies, assuring rapid action from the moderation team. As of September 11, more than 100 user-created experiences referencing the Charlie Kirk assassination had already been taken down—within just 24 hours of the incident.

A spokesperson shared that Roblox’s continuous action against these games is a result of both automated scanning and human moderation, driven by user reports. This initiative also aligns with broader actions taken by major platforms to restrict graphic content associated with the incident.

On September 12, authorities identified Tyler Robinson as the assassin. Robinson was taken into custody following a tip-off and was found to have no previous violent offenses. Utah Governor Spencer Cox implicated that the assassin inscribed a strategy code from Helldivers 2 on at least one bullet casing, with others containing phrases like ‘Hey fascist, catch!’ and a line from the anti-Nazi song Bella Ciao.
