In a recent discussion with IGN, the developers at Battlefield Studios revealed that Battlefield 6 is designed with a focus on console players, coining the term “secretly console first.”
“We don’t want to, obviously, tear down or destroy any of the legacy that Battlefield has, which is, first, a PC game,” said Matthew Nickerson.
(Translation: They aim to keep the essence of Battlefield as a PC game while acknowledging the importance of consoles.)
The shift aims to adjust the balance that previously favored PC gamers, creating a game that feels native to a console. Christian Buhl, the Technical Director, affirmed:
“We built this from the beginning with the idea in mind that this is going to be on both console and PC. It has to feel and play like it is a console game that was built to be a console game.”
(Translation: The intention is to ensure the gameplay experience is optimized for consoles without neglecting PC players.)
Developers are addressing the issues of crossplay and aim assist, committing to improve the overall gaming experience, especially concerning cheating, which is described as a ’never-ending cat-and-mouse game'.
