New Insights Suggest PS4 Version of Resident Evil Requiem Is in Development

Recent leaks indicate that Resident Evil Requiem may also be making its way to PS4, alongside other console launches.

A credible insider has revealed new information about the anticipated Resident Evil Requiem PS4 version. Resident Evil Requiem has recently been confirmed to include the Nintendo Switch 2 as a launch platform, which suggests that a PS4 port might also be forthcoming.

Resident Evil Requiem was initially announced at the Summer Game Fest in June as the long-awaited ninth installment in the iconic survival horror series. This was followed by a detailed presentation at Gamescom last month, showcasing protagonist Grace Ashcroft’s backstory. Capcom is set to release Resident Evil Requiem on February 27, 2026, for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC—until now, these were the only confirmed platforms.

Confirmation of PS4 Version Following Switch 2 Announcement

Recently, Capcom declared during a Nintendo Direct that Resident Evil Requiem will also debut on the Switch 2, bolstered by a new trailer. Notably, the trailer’s end screen featured copyright text that noted “PlayStation 4 logo” under the listed platforms, hinting at a potential PS4 version despite the logo not being displayed. This revelation came from insider Dusk Golem in a recent tweet.

The insider mentioned in a follow-up tweet that the appearance of the “PlayStation 4 logo” should be interpreted cautiously and is tied to licensing matters—not definitive proof of a PS4 release. Nonetheless, Dusk Golem firmly claims that the PS4 port is in development and will be officially announced in due time. Moreover, it remains uncertain whether this version will launch alongside other platforms on February 27 next year or if it will be released later.

Although it’s surprising for a major AAA title like Resident Evil Requiem to target 12-year-old hardware, the PS4 continues to have a substantial player base, many of whom would likely purchase the new installment without hesitation. In fact, Capcom has recently attributed the PS5’s high cost as a barrier for gamers with limited discretionary income, affecting the viability of current-gen-only titles. Thus, it’s not unexpected that Capcom might be considering a PS4 version of Resident Evil Requiem.
