Nintendo Switch Online to Feature Virtual Boy Games, But There's a Caveat
The upcoming Nintendo Switch Online service will include beloved Virtual Boy games, but players must invest in a new console to access them.
The September 12 Nintendo Direct presented several surprising announcements, including the unexpected return of Virtual Boy games for the Nintendo Switch Online service. Retro gaming enthusiasts can look forward to enjoying classic titles on a new Virtual Boy headset, which will be compatible with the Nintendo Switch and its successor, the Nintendo Switch 2.
Originally released in 1995, the Nintendo Virtual Boy was a groundbreaking tabletop console that offered players a chance to experience virtual reality gaming through stereoscopic 3D graphics. While it may seem outdated compared to contemporary virtual reality technology, fans will be pleased to know they can soon relive the unique gameplay offered by the Virtual Boy. However, they will need to acquire more than just the games to play them.
