Black Myth: Wukong Receives Important Update for Xbox in September 2025

A significant update for Black Myth: Wukong has been released, targeting issues affecting Xbox players, especially on the Series X.

A new Black Myth: Wukong update has just launched, resolving several concerns for Xbox players. After the game’s anticipated launch on Microsoft’s platform, many users expressed these frustrations about visual quality on the Xbox Series X. This latest patch promises to enhance the game’s visual performance significantly.

After debuting on PC and PlayStation 5 in August 2024, the Chinese studio Game Science made a remarkable mark with Black Myth: Wukong, with phenomenal sales of 20 million units in the first month. The Xbox version, which was announced shortly after the initial release, encountered unexpected challenges, leading to a year-long optimization process for Microsoft consoles. The biggest obstacle reportedly was the technical limitations posed by the Series S. However, Black Myth: Wukong was finally released for Xbox on August 20, 2025, welcoming an enthusiastic new player base.

The recent patch not only addresses major player complaints but also provides necessary enhancements. Game Science has claimed the graphics will no longer appear blurry on Xbox Series X. The prior issue stemmed from global illumination ghosting occurring in both Balance and Quality modes. Additional fixes include correcting a problem where specific bosses in Mount Huaguo would sink when players moved away, and resolving several side quests that became impossible to progress after dialogues were terminated improperly. Players can expect fewer hiccups now while aiming for the various Black Myth: Wukong achievements on Xbox, as numerous bugs have been patched. Notably, the patch notes focus specifically on the Series X.

During Gamescom Opening Night Live 2025, Game Science surprised the audience with the announcement of Black Myth: Zhong Kui. Although limited details are available about this sequel, including its release date, the reveal trailer showcased the titular main character alongside strikingly beautiful visuals, with fans speculating on potential new abilities.
