Updated Minimum Specifications for Borderlands 4 Demand Eight-Core CPU

The enhanced requirements for Borderlands 4 have raised eyebrows with a demand for eight-core processors, leaving many six-core users in confusion.

About two months back, the initial system requirements for Borderlands 4 were unveiled, catching everyone’s attention due to the stipulation of a minimum of eight CPU cores. This raised concerns as many gamers currently use mainstream six-core processors.

This change has left many oblivious to whether their existing hardware will suffice. Users speculated that the developers might mean eight threads instead of strict cores, which a four-core CPU with hyper-threading could fulfill.

Recently, the community page has been updated with a note next to the eight-core requirement stating “or equivalent.” The true meaning behind this remains unclear, as an eight-thread CPU and an eight-core CPU are not technically equivalent.

The minimum requirements listed example chips like the Intel Core i7 9700 and the AMD Ryzen 7 2700X, both eight-core models, though they’re becoming dated by 2025 standards. Many wonder if less powerful chips could still run the game, and what kind of alternative hardware would meet the performance metrics.

This uncertainty might deter potential buyers from pre-ordering until comprehensive performance tests are available. In the meantime, gamers are eager to see what graphic settings will be adjustable when the game launches.
