Intel's Alleged Battlemage GPU Packaging Surfaces in Shipping Documents

Speculation grows as packaging for Intel's next high-performance GPU emerges, but uncertainties about its release loom large.

The anticipated launch of Intel’s “Battlemage” GPU has been a topic of discussion for quite some time. Recent developments indicate that packaging for the upcoming graphics card, which is rumored to compete with Nvidia’s RTX 5070, has emerged in shipping manifests.

The shipping manifests suggest the presence of an item labeled as “G31/C32”, where G31 is speculated to be Intel’s internal designation for the new GPU architecture. This architecture builds on their latest Battlemage or Xe2 technology, akin to what’s used in the Intel Arc B580 series.

The new entries in this manifest indicate a potential release that could align with timelines similar to those of previous launches, although no specific retail branding has been provided. This ambiguity has led to further speculation regarding whether this GPU will indeed follow the B580’s path.

Analysts suggest that the rumored G31 chip could house 32 execution units (EUs), significantly more than what’s available in the B580—which comes with 20 EUs—and could be competing in the same performance brackets as Nvidia’s RTX 5070. However, the risks associated with its production costs present serious challenges.

As the competition in GPU performance heats up, only time will tell if Intel can make a significant impact with the release of this new GPU.
