Pacific Drive's Major Expansion Takes a Dark Turn with New Cultists

The upcoming expansion 'Whispers in the Woods' introduces a cult obsessed with anomalies, enhancing the horror experience.

When was the last time you ventured into the eerie expanse of Pacific Drive? If you haven’t in a while, there’s a compelling reason to revisit. The driving survival game is set to unveil its first significant expansion titled Whispers in the Woods, promising a chilling experience as showcased in the latest trailer.

In the backstory of Pacific Drive, players have typically been evading various mysterious anomalies in the exclusion zone. This expansion introduces a peculiar group fascinated by these odd phenomena. “Witness the rise of a group of Anomaly-obsessed fanatics in this terrifying expansion to Pacific Drive,” says Cassandra Dracott from Ironwood Studios. “This update takes you deep within a strange and mysterious area marked with unusual symbols and effigies, filled with new threats and secrets to discover.”

Dracott reflects on the inspiration behind the expansion: “I grew up driving cars in the woods, and that’s like my comfort zone. However, it makes sense for someone to feel solitude and fear in the dark, especially with horrifying noises echoing from the zone.

The expansion promises to dive deeper into horror elements and introduces unique items referred to as artifacts. “Artifacts are these peculiar objects created by this group that you can stumble upon, heavily inspired by the organic storytelling seen within the game’s quirk system.

Each artifact has a cause and effect, such as causing your car horn to honk upon jumping, creating great challenges and interactions for players navigating the zone.
