Borderlands 4’s release is just around the corner, and the head of Gearbox, Randy Pitchford, has confirmed that there will be a day-one patch. According to Pitchford, the patch ‘does a lot’, but he emphasized that players with outdated systems should maintain ‘realistic expectations’ about gameplay performance.
“The expectation for using a below minimum-spec machine should be that the game is unplayable,” Pitchford stated on a social platform in response to feedback from a user experiencing difficulties with the preview version of the game. He further noted that while the game offers a broad and interconnected world, it may not run smoothly on older hardware, as has traditionally been a challenge in PC gaming.
Key Quotes from Randy Pitchford:
“It’s a big, bold, new, seamless world, and I’m sorry to say that older hardware may not provide buttery smooth performance for the latest-gen AAA games.”
This sentiment reflects the ongoing concerns about hardware requirements that gamers face, particularly with demanding new titles. As Borderlands 4 approaches its September 11 launch, Pitchford’s comments serve as a reminder for those relying on older technology to evaluate their playing experience.
