Rumors Suggest Resident Evil 7 Might Launch on Switch 2

Speculation arises about the possible announcement of Resident Evil 7 for the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 during a Nintendo Direct event.

Rumor has it that Resident Evil 7: Biohazard may be revealed for the Switch 2 during an upcoming Nintendo Direct, according to several industry insiders on social platforms. This hasn’t been officially verified by Nintendo or Capcom, but the speculation aligns with another rumor claiming that the Direct broadcast could prominently feature three titles associated with the number seven.

Initially launched for PC, PS4, and Xbox One back in January 2017, Resident Evil 7: Biohazard introduces Ethan Winters as its protagonist. This installment marked the first entry in the franchise to be exclusively in first-person perspective, utilizing Capcom’s RE Engine.

Previously, RE7 was available on the original Switch, but only as a cloud-based version, designed to bypass hardware limitations for the console. Such technical adjustments might suggest a significant development in hardware capabilities with the Switch 2.

Could Capcom Showcase RE7 on the Next Nintendo Direct?

While rumors require cautious consideration, insiders hinted at a significant horror title announcement from Capcom at a soon-to-air Nintendo Direct. One notable source echoed their thoughts on social media, suggesting connections to known elements in the game, such as a quote from Eveline, the infamous antagonist.

Earlier, another influencer noted that a Nintendo Direct episode is expected to drop on September 12, with the promise of featuring three titles linked to the number seven. Titles such as Final Fantasy 7 Remake and 007: First Light might indeed fit into this narrative, reinforcing the expectancy around Resident Evil 7 if it turns out to be a part of the lineup.

As of now, there’s no confirmation from Nintendo regarding the scheduling of their next Direct, nor are there announcements from Capcom about releasing RE7 on the Switch 2. The anticipation surrounding the game could align with its reputation for revitalizing the Resident Evil series’ roots in true horror.
