As with any major release, the launch of Silksong sparked two gaming competitions: modding and speedrunning. While speedrunning enters its early phase before recordkeeping kicks off on Speedrun.com on October 1, the Silksong Nexus is already brimming with mods that considerably lessen the game’s difficulty.

The second most popular mod on the Nexus top 30 is: Always Have Compass Effect by Synthlight. Unlike the original Hollow Knight, Silksong demands players to sacrifice space in their equipment (like charms) for a map icon displaying their position.

This mod allows players to access this compass effect without having to compromise their build. Synthlight has also created a similar mod for the magnet tool to facilitate currency collection, both requiring the BepInEx Unity plugin for functionality.

For those finding Silksong too challenging, the Nexus top 30 also features mods that reduce enemy damage, enable fast travel, display boss health bars, and much more. While I prefer the challenge in gaming, many players may appreciate these options.
