New data retrieved from the files of Marvel Rivals indicates that the popular superhero shooter might soon roll out loot boxes. After its much-anticipated release late last year, Marvel Rivals became a major hit, attracting millions of players. The game claimed 10 million players within days of its launch, captivating fans across various platforms. There are now potential monetization plans on the way.
These new loot boxes, referred to as “Mysteries” in the files, have been hinted at in a post from a well-known Marvel Rivals account, RivalsInfo. This codename is associated with new player components that are under development. Previous references to an older loot box system are also found in the datamine, which includes terms like “cosmic mysteries number.” However, there’s no information yet regarding a specific launch date for this feature beyond its mention in the upcoming Season 4 files.
The introduction of loot boxes may stir controversy among fans, as this monetization method has sparked debates about gambling elements in games. Some countries, including Australia, have even legislated against loot boxes, requiring games featuring them to receive an M rating.
