Blizzard Begins Discussion on Implementing Loot Filters in Diablo 4
Fans of Diablo 4 may finally get a much-requested loot filter feature as Blizzard acknowledges ongoing community demands.
Blizzard has announced that it is “talking about” the addition of a loot filter for Diablo 4. Two years post-launch, the community continues to push for easier ways to manage loot collections.
A loot filter has been a long-awaited request, particularly at higher levels, where players can accumulate excessive loot. While Blizzard has promoted utilizing this loot as part of the game’s economy, community feedback has remained consistent in favor of a filter.
Earlier this year, discussions hinted that Blizzard was reluctant but open to the idea of a loot filter. In a recent episode of their Burning Questions series on YouTube, Dan Tanguay, the live-service design director, shared, “We’ve definitely heard everyone’s feedback. We’ve done a lot of things that we needed to do prior to revamping the itemization. We’ve done some almost ‘smart filtering’ and I think we’ve reached the limits of that approach. So we are talking about loot filters but I can’t really say much more than that right now.”
While this is not a definitive affirmation from Blizzard, it’s a positive indication for players eager for a loot filter in Diablo 4. As a feature, it aligns with the mechanics of a loot-driven game. For perspective, Path of Exile 2 incorporates loot filters successfully, demonstrating their viability. However, while the discussions progress, it seems the implementation of such a feature is not imminent, and players may have to wait a bit longer for exciting updates, especially with Season 10 set to launch on September 23.
