Konami has successfully made a comeback in the Metal Gear franchise with the release of Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater. The game has impressively sold over a million copies across various platforms (PC, PS5, and Xbox) on its first day of release.
MGS Delta officially launched on August 28, although players who purchased the digital deluxe edition had early access a few days prior. According to PC Gamer’s review, the game managed to answer a crucial question: Can Konami still produce a great Metal Gear title? The answer, by most measures, appears to be a resounding yes.
However, despite the impressive sales figures, the launch was not entirely smooth. There have been reports of significant performance issues, particularly concerning frame drops. In response, Konami has acknowledged these concerns and is actively investigating the situation while working on a patch to address the problems. Unfortunately, there is currently no estimated time for a fix.
This release reaffirms Metal Gear’s strong foothold in the gaming industry, even in the absence of series creator Hideo Kojima. Konami expressed satisfaction with the sales milestone, stating that it reflects the lasting popularity of the Metal Gear series, a cornerstone of video game history.
