Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater Achieves One Million Sales on Launch Day
Konami has revealed that Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater sold one million copies within its first day of release. This milestone reflects the significant anticipation for this remake, despite the absence of the original game’s creator, Hideo Kojima.
Initially unveiling the game in 2023, Konami ramped up its promotional efforts leading up to the game’s release on August 28, 2025, across platforms such as PC, Xbox Series X/S, and PlayStation 5. Following the release, a tweet from Konami UK confirmed the impressive sales figures.
While the game reportedly struggled with 19,634 concurrent players on Steam at launch—compared to over 91,000 for Metal Gear Solid V—it appears console users have driven the sales numbers significantly.
Despite mixed reception on PC platforms, critics have recognized the game’s quality, showcasing a Metacritic score of 86, closely following the original’s score of 91. These figures illustrate the continued devotion to the Metal Gear Solid franchise in a post-Kojima era, even amid lingering discussions regarding performance issues and the Collector’s Edition’s value.
