Hacker Invades Nexon Game, Sparks 'Koyuki Apocalypse' with Copy-Pasting Mayhem

An unauthorized hacker caused chaos in the game Blue Archive, flooding it with characters of a favored anime girl, resulting in a six-hour maintenance shutdown.

In a delightful twist of chaos, a hacker made their mark on Nexon’s Blue Archive, causing what has been humorously termed the ‘Koyuki apocalypse.’ Instead of committing more malicious acts, this rogue individual engaged in a spree of copy-pasting a beloved anime character, Kurosaki Koyuki, throughout the game environment. This prompted the developers to enact an emergency six-hour maintenance period to rectify the incident.

This curious hacking event was noted by Automaton, revealing how the hacker managed to replace recruitment banners with images of Koyuki, generating numerous instances of her within cafes in the game and humorously altering the title of the game’s information page to ‘Nihahaha,’ the character’s trademark laugh.

As shared by a Twitter user, this whimsical hack led to an overflow of Koyuki characters, bringing light-heartedness to what could have been a severe security breach. Nexon confirmed that while the game’s displays were compromised, no player accounts or sensitive data were put at risk, keeping player information unaffected.

Afterward, Nexon expressed its regrets regarding the disruption caused by the unexpected display. In an official notice, they stated that they were investigating the incident thoroughly and would be offering various compensations to their players for the inconvenience caused during the prolonged maintenance period, including specific in-game bonuses as a gesture of goodwill.
