Battery startup BMX (Better Mobile Xperience) is making headlines with its SolidSafe USB-C charging pack. The company asserts that the SolidSafe battery can survive intense situations, such as having a nail driven through it, without any ignition risk. The package is constructed from solid-state cells, boasting greater stability and resistance to heat and swelling, as well as a lifespan reportedly twice that of conventional lithium-ion batteries.
Key Features:
- Available in 5,000 mAh and 10,000 mAh variants, the latter optionally includes an SD card reader.
- Features two USB-C ports and a wireless charging option, enabling simultaneous charging of up to three devices.
- SolidSafe technology is claimed to alleviate concerns related to liquid-based batteries that may overheat and combust.
BMX is launching the product on Kickstarter, with a basic model priced at $49. The company states mass production has commenced, with shipping set to start in October. While BMX does not guarantee safety post-impact, the durability of solid-state technology presents a promising alternative to conventional lithium batteries, which are often criticized for their risk factors in various scenarios.
