Attempts to save the Perfect Dark reboot collapse as Take-Two and Microsoft couldn't finalize IP ownership.

When negotiations between Crystal Dynamics and Take-Two initiated in hopes of reviving the Perfect Dark reboot fell apart, it was because they couldn’t agree on who would retain the rights to the IP. Microsoft faced backlash for its decision to cancel the reboot, which had been co-developed with The Initiative studio, now shutdown. Following the cancellation, Crystal Dynamics sought a new partner to fund the game’s development and manage its publication. Unfortunately for fans and developers alike, this deal fizzled out, primarily due to disagreements regarding IP ownership, showcasing Microsoft’s reluctance to relinquish its control over the Perfect Dark franchise.
