Sony Takes Action Against PS5 Spam Games

Sony has started removing low-quality, spam games from the PlayStation Store in response to developer complaints.

After numerous complaints from both developers and players, Sony has begun removing low-quality spam games from the PS5’s PlayStation Store. These spam titles, often generated with little content and released at an alarming rate, have cluttered the store, making it difficult for players to find quality games.

One such developer, RandomSpinGames, had released 19 titles in 2024 alone, most of which have now been removed. Gamers and developers alike have expressed frustration over the influx of low-effort games, as studios turn to AI tools for quick game development.

While Sony’s actions are a step in the right direction, many spam games still populate the store, prompting hopes that continued efforts will lead to the removal of even more titles. In addition, developers from other platforms like Nintendo have also reported similar problems with their stores, indicating a widespread issue within the gaming industry. As the cleanup continues, players are left hoping for a return to easily finding quality games.
