AMD's Graphics Card Market Share Plummets to 6% Amidst Rising Competition

AMD's share of the graphics card market has fallen drastically, creating concerns in the industry while the company shows strong performance in CPUs.

AMD’s graphics card market share has taken a sharp decline, plummeting to just 6% according to recent analyst data. This drastic drop is contrasted by Nvidia, which now controls a staggering 94% of the market, marking what might be an all-time high for the company.

While this is alarming news for AMD in the GPU sector, the company has shown significant gains in the CPU market against Intel, where it has risen markedly. The JPR analyst firm noted that AMD’s market share was at 12% last year and has seen its halves cut down to the current figure during the second quarter of 2025. The availability of AMD’s RDNA 4 GPUs did not help boost sales adequately to offset these losses, primarily due to their higher price points and limited availability.

This situation places AMD in a precarious position as it continues to lag behind its competitors in the GPU space while making significant strides in CPUs, possibly indicating a shift in their market strategy and product lineup.

With Intel’s market share also declining significantly to 67% for client CPUs this year, AMD’s growing influence in CPUs may be a crucial factor in its overall performance, but the future remains uncertain for its GPU division.
