Fallout 76 has rolled out a new update that features a comprehensive revamp of the CAMP system. Bethesda released patch notes outlining all the fresh CAMP features accessible to Fallout 76 players, alongside various balancing tweaks that accompany these enhancements.
The CAMP functionality in Fallout 76 enables players to establish bases across diverse locations within the game world. Earlier in August, Bethesda disclosed plans to overhaul the CAMP system. This intended upgrade aimed to enrich the base-building process, making it more innovative and straightforward for players.
As of September 2, the anticipated CAMP revamp officially went live. Players will encounter modified rules aimed at simplifying the base construction process. Notably, three new placement modes have been introduced: Snap Mode allows traditional placement of items, Collision Mode permits items without auto-snapping while factoring collisions, and Free Mode disregards snapping and collisions altogether, which means players can creatively overlap walls for better aesthetics.
Furthermore, the update has relaxed several placement requirements, allowing items that previously needed specific ground requirements—such as water use—to be positioned in mid-air, enabling players to design floating bases. Wired connections can now intersect with other objects too. There’s also a refreshed Modify Menu that grants users enhanced access to editing features, as well as a new item locking function to help prevent accidental selling, trading, scrapping, or dropping of important items. However, it’s essential to highlight that locked items can still be lost upon death or used in crafting tasks.
