Hello Games director Sean Murray revealed that their upcoming title, Light No Fire, will incorporate vast oceans necessitating large ships and teams for navigation. This game is set to build on advancements from the recently updated No Man’s Sky.
First introduced at the 2023 Game Awards, Light No Fire allows players to explore an extensive procedurally-generated world while creating custom avatars, ranging from human to anthropomorphic characters. Multiplayer features and dragon-riding capabilities are also planned. However, a release date remains unannounced.
A significant element of the gameplay involves traversing large oceans, with Murray emphasizing the need for sizeable ships and crew to sail effectively. The technology seen in No Man’s Sky’s recent updates will also be included, potentially allowing players to customize their boats for exploration. Murray noted, “The technical challenges they have had to overcome to make any of this possible have been immense. Almost every part of the game has had to be reworked to accommodate these relative spaces.”
While the development progresses for Light No Fire, information regarding a launch date is scarce. Meanwhile, No Man’s Sky has seen a surge in player numbers, indicating widespread interest and engagement with the franchise.
