Dramatic Drop in Marvel Rivals Steam Player Count: Down 86% from Peak

Marvel Rivals has seen a significant decline in its player count since its January peak, dropping by 86%.

The player count for Marvel Rivals has drastically decreased since reaching its peak in January, with nearly 90% of players seemingly transitioned away from the competitive shooter. This team-based game, featuring a variety of famous Marvel characters, began with a surge of over 10 million users within the first three days after its launch, generating more than $135 million in its initial month.

However, Marvel Rivals has seen a sharp decline in daily players, now at only 87,948 in the past 24 hours, reflecting an 86% drop from its record high of over 644,000 players back in January, although it still holds a top 10 position in the most-played games on Steam.

Recent Challenges for Marvel Rivals

Over the months since its debut, the game has faced numerous obstacles including increasing negative reviews from gamers who highlight issues related to performance and balancing as major concerns. Developer NetEase Games has recently altered the matchmaking system, limiting team sizes in ranked play, which drew considerable criticism from the community.

Despite the downturn, there are rumors suggesting that the fan-favorite Deadpool might be making his way into Marvel Rivals, which could excite a portion of the remaining player base. The launch of the competitive Season 4 is expected in early September, adding further intrigue to the game’s future.
