Skyblivion Unveils First 15 Minutes of Gameplay Footage
The Skyblivion team has revealed a compelling new gameplay showcase for its fan-made remake of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion.
The Skyblivion team has unveiled a new gameplay showcase for their fan-made remake of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, offering a glimpse into the ambitious project. This endeavor is part of the TES Renewal Project, which aims to re-create older Elder Scrolls titles using newer game engines. Initially launched in 2012 on a smaller scale, the Oblivion remake has grown to become one of the most extensive Skyrim mods ever, crafted by a diverse global team of modders.
The gameplay reveal comes after concerns arose about the future of Skyblivion following the recent release of Oblivion Remastered. Fortunately, the team confirmed their project will continue as planned, and they even received a warm welcome from Bethesda, getting an official endorsement to proceed. Development is now in its final stages, with a release anticipated in 2025.
Skyblivion Showcases 15 Minutes of Gameplay
At Creation Mod Con 2025, the Skyblivion team showcased 15 minutes of gameplay that focused on reimagining Oblivion’s tutorial, starting from the iconic jail scene with Emperor Uriel Septim and leading players into the vast world of Cyrodiil.
Attention to detail was paramount, ensuring a seamless integration of Skyrim and Oblivion gameplay mechanics. Unlike Oblivion Remastered, which aims to replicate the original, Skyblivion is designed to elevate the game to modern standards with significant updates across various gameplay elements. Among the enhancements, aspects like lockpicking will borrow from Elder Scrolls Online, while visual and auditory experiences are also set for major updates.
With the vast array of over 100,000 mods available in Skyrim, Skyblivion holds a distinct advantage over Oblivion Remastered. During the trailer, elements reminiscent of popular mods like SkyUI indicated the potential for an expansive modding experience from launch.
In addition to Skyblivion, the TES Renewal Project is working on other large-scale mods, including Skywind, and the ongoing Beyond Skyrim initiative, promising plenty for fans in the coming years.
