Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater Faces Early Sales Struggles

The recent launch of Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater indicates a slow commercial start, and critical acclaim hasn't translated into sales success.

Overview

Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater seems to be struggling commercially, with its early performance indicating modest sales figures. Currently, the remake of MGS 3: Snake Eater still has a considerable distance to cover to match the success of MGS 5: Phantom Pain, which has reportedly sold over 10 million units since 2015.

Recent Sales Performance

Just days post-launch, there are indicators that MGS Delta is witnessing a slow start in sales. Although reviews have been largely positive, player engagement hasn’t kept pace. On release day, the game saw a peak of just over 19,634 concurrent players on Steam, a stark contrast to the 91,195 peaks achieved by MGS 5: Phantom Pain shortly after its release in 2015.

Current Sales Estimates

As of the end of August, MGS Delta: Snake Eater has sold roughly 218,000 copies on the PC platform. Predictions suggest that even with estimated figures, the game’s total sales may still fall short of the one million milestone. With the current user review count at around 3,400 on PlayStation and significantly less on other platforms, it raises questions regarding its overall market reception compared to other games released around the same timeframe.
