New Indicators of a Nintendo Direct in September 2025 Surface
Recent leaks suggest a Nintendo Direct could be scheduled for mid-September 2025, coinciding with the franchise's anniversary.
More evidence suggests that a Nintendo Direct is on the horizon for September 2025, with a credible source indicating several potential dates for the event. On August 25, a leaker known as SwitchForce announced that a Nintendo Direct is likely to occur on September 12, a rare choice, given that direct events typically avoid Fridays.
NateTheHate Supports Rumor of September Direct
Six days later, well-known Nintendo insider NateTheHate—who previously revealed the Switch 2 announcement date—backed this claim via social media, stating, “Yes, there is a Nintendo Direct in September.” He mentioned that it could happen from September 8 to 14, potentially on the 11th or 12th.
Given Nintendo’s tendency to avoid weekend events, September 13 and 14 seem less likely, although NateTheHate’s mention of a Friday is notable as it strays from past routines. Historically, only two years—2015 and 2024—have gone without a September Nintendo Direct from 2014 to 2024. 2025 also marks the 40th anniversary of the Super Mario franchise, which raises speculation about possible related announcements. Though rumors have circulated regarding a new Super Mario Bros. collection, NateTheHate suggests there’s no current knowledge of any anniversary announcements planned for the expected mid-September Direct.
Metroid Prime 4: Beyond is also highlighted as a likely candidate for the event, with Nintendo having affirmed twice that the anticipated title is due for a 2025 launch. The year is progressing, meaning an official release date announcement is needed soon. Alternatively, a shadow drop may be in the cards for the beloved franchise’s latest iteration, yet this seems less probable for a major title of its stature.
