Unofficial Expansion to Planescape: Torment Introduces New Regions and Revives Cut Content
Planescape Torment: Blizzard in Baator is set to release soon, adding an exciting twist to the classic RPG.
While not as famous as titles like Fallout or Baldur’s Gate, Planescape: Torment is frequently considered the pinnacle of the CRPG golden age, known for its unique narrative style.
Although new content related to Planescape has been sparse, a dedicated group of Polish modders is working on a substantial expansion to the beloved game. This expansion, billed as the first ever unofficial DLC, allows players to accompany The Nameless One on a journey through new regions of Sigil, including a descent into the Nine Hells and the frozen realms of Cania. Along this journey, players will be involved in a continuous conflict involving the Lords of the Nine.
The developers have mentioned that the expansion includes numerous features such as:
- Two new recruitable characters
- New planar creatures
- Original music
- Additional cinematics
Moreover, the mod aims to restore elements that were cut from the original game, like voice lines, lost items, and hidden graphical features. While the exact plot details are under wraps, the narrative will center around the main characters and draw heavily from the second edition of D&D while incorporating aspects from later iterations as well.
Currently, the team anticipates that the full completion of this project may take until 2031, but they expect to release the first act later this year, estimated to take around a dozen hours to finish.
The DLC will be available in both English and Polish, potentially leading to variations in naming conventions for different versions.
