Bloober Team has quickly transitioned from the successes of the Silent Hill 2 remake to their upcoming project, Cronos: The New Dawn. While initial doubts from fans about the remake’s development faded once they sunk their teeth into it, the team recognizes the need to innovate and explore new narratives. As Grzegorz Like, the lead writer, mentioned, they felt ready to drive forward with Cronos even amid the production of Silent Hill.
“It was awesome, because we did Silent Hill because we felt ready to do Silent Hill. Then, when we were in production for Silent Hill, like two years in, we knew we needed to start developing this.”
(Translation: It was thrilling to produce Silent Hill, and two years into its development, we realized we needed to create Cronos: The New Dawn.)
This new title aims to deviate from its predecessor’s eerie essence, leaning more toward action and horror reminiscent of the Resident Evil series, incorporating themes reflective of Bloober Team’s love for science fiction and the 80s era. The team decided to add unique elements, including finding a way to integrate their home country, Poland, into the storyline.
As they prepare for the new game, they hope to create a distinct experience that remains engaging for both old and new players. They aim for a release that highlights a blend of gameplay elements that diverge from the psychological horror that defined Silent Hill.
