Starfield's Exciting New DLC Announced

Bethesda reveals new story DLC for Starfield along with updates to enhance gameplay.

Bethesda has officially confirmed that Starfield will receive a new story DLC along with free updates and improvements to gameplay. The first DLC, titled Shattered Space, launched in September 2024 and was met with acclaim from fans; however, it did not significantly impact the game’s declining player count. Depending on how well the upcoming second DLC is received, the player count may change.

Bethesda has hinted at the arrival of a second expansion for Starfield, as the Game Director Todd Howard alluded to ‘Year 2’ enhancements back in June 2024, including a new DLC. Although details remain scarce, a recent patent filing for the name “Starborn” has sparked speculation about the potential title of the addition, possibly indicating the narrative direction.

In a developer spotlight, Tim Lamb disclosed plans for new content, including updates and features highly requested by the community. He mentioned that some developers are focusing on enhancing space gameplay to ensure more rewarding travel experiences. Furthermore, new Starfield Creation mods are also on the agenda.

While no official release date was announced, industry insiders believe that Starfield’s second expansion may not arrive until 2026. Recent leaks suggest Starfield could be launched on PlayStation 5 and Switch 2 in spring 2026, a strategic move potentially coinciding with the DLC release to boost sales.

Additionally, there are rumors concerning revamping ship travel, with evidence found by modders in recent updates hinting at a feature named ‘cruise mode.’ Tim Lamb’s emphasis on enriching space travel would align with the previously mentioned rumors. Currently, Starfield has loading screens during space travel, and the new feature could create a more engaging experience for players.

Overall, this announcement is promising news for enthusiasts, showing Bethesda’s dedication to supporting Starfield amid its mixed reception. Many view the upcoming expansion as a vital chance for the game to become a long-term success, overcoming its challenging launch.
