Bold Predictions Surface for Resident Evil Zero Remake

Speculations arise about a potential marketing deal between Capcom and Nintendo for the anticipated Resident Evil Zero remake.

Summary

  • Long-time Resident Evil leaker Dusk Golem predicts that Capcom will strike a marketing deal with Nintendo for the rumored Resident Evil Zero remake.
  • The new version of Resident Evil Zero is still expected to be a multi-platform title.
  • The Resident Evil Zero remake will reportedly wrap up development around the same time RE9 does, making it unclear which one will be released first.

The rumored Resident Evil Zero remake is likely to prompt Capcom to strike a marketing deal with Nintendo, a well-known leaker believes. Their claim suggests that the reimagining of Resident Evil Zero will be a day-one release on the Switch 2.

Long-time Capcom leaker Dusk Golem reported that a Resident Evil Zero remake was in the works back in May 2024. That occasion also saw them claim that the Japanese developer was remaking Resident Evil Code: Veronica.

Why a Nintendo Marketing Partnership Is a Bold Prediction for Resident Evil Zero Remake

Dusk Golem’s newly shared theory is a fairly bold prediction, not least because the bulk of Capcom’s Resident Evil marketing efforts hasn’t had anything to do with Nintendo for years now. As far as the company’s modern reimaginings are concerned, both the Resident Evil 3 and Resident Evil 4 remakes were announced at PlayStation events. Were Capcom to truly pursue a marketing partnership with Nintendo for its next remake, it would have to break this pattern of PlayStation event reveals.

Resident Evil Zero Remake Could Beat RE9 to the Market

Responding to one question on Twitter, Dusk Golem claimed that the Resident Evil Zero remake and Resident Evil 9 are currently on course to wrap up development around the same time. As a result, Capcom should soon get a rare chance to choose which big-budget Resident Evil game to release next. Whichever one it decides on will almost certainly be officially announced first. In recent years, the company favored revealing Resident Evil games roughly half a year ahead of their market debuts.

Since 2026 will mark the 30th anniversary of the franchise, Capcom is likely to release at least one Resident Evil game next year. The Code: Veronica remake is expected to hit the market after both RE9 and the RE0 reimagining. Dusk Golem previously reported that the new version of Code: Veronica will be less ambitious than the Resident Evil 4 remake.
