Activision Addresses Call of Duty Skin Controversy: No More Carryover to Black Ops 7

Activision has responded to criticism about its approach to cosmetics in the Call of Duty franchise, confirming that contents from Black Ops 6 will not transition to the upcoming Black Ops 7.

Activision has officially acknowledged the concerns raised by fans about the skin designs associated with Call of Duty: Black Ops 7. In a recent blog update, the company stated:

“In Black Ops 7, bundles and items will be crafted to fit the Black Ops identity.”

This decision comes after a disappointing response to the Black Ops 7 reveal, where many criticized the aesthetic direction taken, fearing it would detract from the franchise’s original style. Fans were particularly concerned about the crossovers and skin designs from the previous title, Black Ops 6, which some felt were too extravagant and out of place.

To address these issues, Activision has ensured that all weapon skins and operator content from Black Ops 6 will not carry over into the new installment, stating that the aim is for Black Ops 7 to feel authentic to Call of Duty and its narrative setting. Furthermore, they mentioned that while some elements from previous games would remain, such as Double XP tokens and Gobblegums, the cosmetic aspect is receiving a significant overhaul to maintain the integrity of the game’s unique identity.

This move appears to be aimed at restoring faith among the player base, as Activision emphasizes its commitment to delivering an immersive gaming experience.
