The director of Dune: Awakening comments that crossplay functionality is “no problem” for Funcom. Currently, the survival MMO is exclusively on PC, but there are plans for console availability in the future. While details regarding the game’s Xbox and PlayStation versions remain scarce, it is suggested that players on various platforms may eventually enjoy crossplay.
In an interview with Wccftech, Joel Bylos confirmed that the console release is underway, but crossplay will depend on agreements with Sony and Microsoft. He stated, “It depends on what the platform holders have to say,” emphasizing the need for their approval despite Funcom having the necessary server infrastructure to support this feature.
As for the console release timeline, while no specifics are given, Funcom hinted that Dune: Awakening might launch on consoles in 2026. Joel Bylos jokingly added that it could coincide with the anticipated Grand Theft Auto 6, providing a rough timeline of “next year.”
Funcom plans to introduce private servers for console players similar to what is available for PC users. Expect major updates before the official console launch, with at least two DLCs scheduled for the first half of 2026, which may be released before the console versions.
