Harrison Ford Lauds Troy Baker's Performance in Indiana Jones Game

Harrison Ford applauds Troy Baker's portrayal of Dr. Indiana Jones in the latest video game installment, emphasizing the importance of talent over AI.

Harrison Ford has once again complimented Troy Baker for his performance in Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, claiming that the actor’s work is proof that AI isn’t necessary to replicate an iconic voice.

Veteran voice actor Troy Baker stepped in for Harrison Ford as Dr. Henry “Indiana” Jones in Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, which launched on Xbox Series X/S consoles and PC back in December 2024. Baker almost didn’t get the role, as Bethesda head Todd Howard needed to be convinced by the rest of the development team to cast him following a series of blind tests.

Troy Baker did get to play the legendary treasure hunter in Indiana Jones and the Great Circle though, earning high praise due to his near spot-on impression of Harrison Ford after fully committing himself to channeling the famed actor in one of his most beloved roles. Even the original Indiana Jones himself acknowledged Baker’s work at The Game Awards 2024, where Harrison Ford, Todd Howard, and Troy Baker presented the award for Best Performance. While Baker himself wasn’t nominated, his performance in Indiana Jones and the Great Circle left a mark on fans all the same.

Ford’s comments about AI reflect a growing concern within the acting community regarding technology’s role in voice acting, particularly in the gaming industry. Ford emphasized that talent is essential, and you don’t need artificial intelligence to replicate someone’s unique essence. “You don’t need artificial intelligence to steal my soul. You can already do it for nickels and dimes with good ideas and talent. He did a brilliant job and it didn’t take AI to do it,” Ford stated.

As Ford gears up for a new role in the MCU, gamers can look forward to experiencing Baker’s portrayal of Indiana Jones when the game is set to launch on PlayStation 5 sometime in 2025.
