Ubisoft has revealed that Assassin’s Creed Mirage will get a significant surprise DLC before the year’s end, marking the update as completely free of charge. This new expansion will include a “new story chapter and missions” set in Al-Ula, a historic oasis in what is now modern Saudi Arabia.
The addition of this new area is unexpected, especially since Mirage was previously the first single-city entry in the Assassin’s Creed series since 2015’s Syndicate. The developers suggested in a tweet, “Assassin’s Creed Mirage players, we have a surprise coming your way later this year! 馃摉 New story chapter & missions set in 9th century AlUla 馃幃 Gameplay improvements for the base game and the new location 馃巵 All for free! Stay tuned!”
Al-Ula, which has been inhabited by various cultures since 5,000 BC, is home to striking Nabataean rock formations that could provide a visually stunning setting for gameplay.
This unexpected DLC choice hints at the possibility that the content may have originally been planned as a paid expansion, reflecting on the positive reception and robust sales of Assassin’s Creed Shadows earlier in the year.
