
On August 22, Blizzard unveiled the Overwatch 2 Season 18 patch notes. The patch highlights the addition of Wuyang as a new Support hero and the anticipated return of the Summer Games event. The new season will officially start on August 26 and will feature a revamped hero progression system, along with enhanced support for mouse and keyboard controls across all consoles.
Wuyang is a Support hero harnessing aquatic powers to aid allies and fend off enemies during combat. He is the 44th hero included in the Overwatch franchise and was initially referred to by the codename “Aqua” during development. Players had the chance to test him through a limited-time trial from August 14 to 18.
Moreover, Season 18 will also see the return of fan-favorite seasonal events, like the 2025 Summer Games. These games, influenced by the Olympic Games, typically occur in July or early August. As part of the event, Lucio Ball and Winston Volleyball will be have confirmed participation, alongside fresh summer-themed skins for Lucio available for rewards.
Event Dates: September 2–15.
Additional Changes:
- An improved ‘Hero Progression 2.0’ will allow players to earn Ascended borders and other cosmetics based on gameplay.
- Many heroes will experience modifications, including limits on armor and damage reduction, ensuring balance.
- Mouse and keyboard support will be available to console players, creating two distinct matchmaking pools to choose from.
