Good news for Splitgate enthusiasts: Developer 1047 Games announced that, starting August 29, the original Splitgate will transition to peer-to-peer multiplayer. This change allows players to continue enjoying the game even after the official servers are shut down.
“Starting August 29, the original Splitgate will be moving to peer-to-peer as we focus our resources on rebuilding Splitgate,” stated 1047 on their update.
The studio acknowledged the significance of the game to its fans, emphasizing their dedication to keeping it accessible. Players will still be able to participate in matches and relive the unique experience that made Splitgate popular.
As part of the transition, players can expect peer-to-peer networking to be available across both PCs and consoles, with cross-platform play enabled. However, achievements will not be earnable post-transition, though all prior purchases and cosmetics will remain intact.
1047 Games is also releasing previously unreleased content, including new maps and gameplay modes. They are optimistic about providing ongoing support despite the challenges faced with Splitgate 2’s recent rollout, which led to substantial server costs.
The focus now is on preserving the community’s access to the original Splitgate experience under new conditions, which the developers are hopeful will be met with enthusiasm.
