EA Unveils Ambitious Plans for Apex Legends 2.0

Electronic Arts is preparing a significant upgrade for Apex Legends aimed at revitalizing its player experience amid declining revenues.

EA has announced that Apex Legends’ revenues have been declining annually, which prompted the company to develop a significant 2.0 update aimed at enhancing the gaming experience. Despite the vast player base and continuous support, the game has not met EA’s financial expectations.

As a free-to-play live-service title, Apex Legends regularly receives updates featuring new content based on community feedback. Launched in 2019, it successfully revitalized the battle royale genre with unique characters, each possessing distinct skills. However, despite its ongoing popularity, the game is failing to meet EA’s monetary goals.

During a recent financial call, EA CEO Andrew Wilson shared that the company is focusing on introducing a “meaningful” update, suggesting an expansion of the game’s universe and experience. While the future remains uncertain, Wilson reassured that updates aimed at improving gameplay and addressing financial concerns are underway, and the team is committed to the longevity of Apex Legends.

Initially, there is no set timeline for the 2.0 update, but it is clear that EA plans to release it after the next Battlefield game. Wilson emphasized their commitment to investing in the Apex Legends community, ensuring its evolution over the coming years.
