Helldivers 2 Unveils Exciting Warbond and Addresses Pricing Issues

Arrowhead Game Studios' CEO discusses the new pricing for the Helldivers 2 Halo collaboration while revealing upcoming content.

Arrowhead Game Studios’ CEO, Shams Jorjani, recently provided insights regarding the unexpected price hike related to Helldivers 2 in connection with its Halo warbond collaboration. This announcement comes amidst the exciting news that Helldivers 2 will be making its way to Xbox on August 26, sparking discussions about Sony’s strategy concerning multiplayer games on other platforms.

To commemorate the Xbox launch of Helldivers 2, Arrowhead disclosed plans for a new partnership. During Gamescom’s Opening Night Live, they introduced the Halo 3: ODST Legendary Warbond, which features the Helljumper and Recon armor sets along with new weapons, skins, and other thematic items linked to Microsoft’s franchise. Players expressed surprise at the increased price for this new Warbond, which is positioned above the typical price range.

CEO Clarifies Higher Pricing for Halo 3 ODST Warbond

In a discussion on the Helldivers 2 Official Discord channel, Jorjani clarified that the cost of 1,500 Super Credits for the Halo 3 ODST Warbond is not indicative of a new standard; it is specific for Legendary Warbonds that feature collaborations rather than original content. This increase is primarily to accommodate licensing fees, extra collaborative efforts, and the process of acquiring approval from the IP holders. However, Jorjani amiably noted that the Halo 3: ODST content will remain permanently accessible within Helldivers 2, though customization options for the gear may be limited due to licensing constraints.

Excitingly, this new Warbond isn’t the only content on the way, as the community manager hinted that the Halo Warbond will not disrupt the normal release cadence. Premium Warbonds will still be priced at the standard 1,000 Super Credits. Baskinator from the community teased that they’ve already seen what’s next coming down the pipeline and described it as ‘awesome.’ Fans expect a release in early September, since the typical interval is about 5–7 weeks between Warbonds, considering the last was the Control Group on July 17.

To conclude, as Helldivers 2 expands its player base with new arrivals from Xbox, Arrowhead is poised to unveil more to keep existing players engaged while introducing exciting new features.
