Wargaming reveals its latest vehicle-based MMO, World of Tanks: HEAT, showcasing new features and gameplay changes.
Wargaming has announced its newest game, World of Tanks: HEAT, at Gamescom 2025. Renowned for creating vehicle-oriented MMOs, the studio continues to expand its gaming universe. Upon its release, World of Tanks: HEAT will introduce players to an innovative way to engage in the tank battles that Wargaming is famous for.
While World of Tanks launched in 2011, Wargaming has rolled out several other titles, including the naval-focused game World of Warships in 2015, and revealed Steel Hunters at the 2024 Game Awards, slated for release in April 2025. Although Steel Hunters is sunsetting this October, fans of Wargaming now have HEAT to anticipate.
An Overview of World of Tanks: HEAT
In addition to announcing a significant update for World of Tanks, Wargaming unveiled a trailer for the new vehicle combat game during the event. Although HEAT may resemble the original game at first glance, it will feature vehicles and pilots that can be fully customized with special abilities, introducing a hero shooter element. The matches will consist of 10 vs. 10 battles, a shift from the standard 15 vs 15 format.
No release date has been confirmed, but players can add it to their wishlists on Steam, PS5, or Xbox Series X|S. Additionally, Wargaming is inviting players to participate in the game’s development through its Lodestar Program. Previously known as Project CW, the game has undergone closed playtests, and fans can apply for future testing on the official website. Although specifics about the testing timeline and content remain uncertain, it presents a unique chance for enthusiasts of military-themed co-op titles and anyone interested in contributing to the game’s evolution.
