Capcom Faces Performance Criticism for Monster Hunter Wilds, Plans Major Updates This Winter

Capcom acknowledges the performance issues in Monster Hunter Wilds and outlines plans for improvements slated for this winter.

Capcom has run into trouble due to the troubling performance of the PC version of Monster Hunter Wilds. Players have expressed disappointment not only with technical performance but also with the perceived lack of content in the endgame.

Recently, updates aimed to address some gameplay issues have been released; however, performance woes remain unresolved. Here’s the good news: Capcom has announced that they aim to improve game performance significantly. But here comes the bad news: those improvements won’t arrive until this winter.

This information was confirmed during an update with the game director, reiterated on the official Monster Hunter X account: “To our hunters playing #MHWilds on PC, we’re committed to listening to your feedback and improving both performance and stability of the game.”

While gradual improvements are planned leading up to a larger update, titled Free Title Update 4, this winter will see a multifaceted approach that includes optimizations targeting CPU and GPU performance.

Capcom seemingly finds itself in a tough situation. Different development teams are needed for various aspects, making it complicated to focus purely on upgrading game dynamics. Current criticism of its major franchise has left them scrambling to enhance player experiences.

Despite its challenges, many players have found joy in Monster Hunter Wilds. However, reports indicate that issues tend to surface only after many hours of gameplay, which is problematic for a franchise built around extensive endgame grinding. While there’s optimism for a winter overhaul, only time will tell if it comes too late to salvage player trust.
