Former Diablo Boss Takes Charge of BioShock 4 Amid Staff Layoffs
Cloud Chamber has begun restructuring, leading to layoffs as Rod Fergusson returns to spearhead the production of BioShock 4.
Developer Cloud Chamber has let go an unspecified number of its staff to initiate a revamp of BioShock 4. Rod Fergusson, previously associated with the Diablo franchise, has been appointed to lead the project. In a LinkedIn post, Fergusson confirmed his return to 2K Games, where he will manage the future of this beloved franchise and oversee various related projects, including a movie in the works with Netflix.
“Yes, it’s true. I’m returning to 2K to lead a series that means a lot to me as the new Head of the BioShock Franchise.”

The restructuring follows a challenging development phase, prompting Fergusson to express gratitude towards the team members affected during this transition. Earlier this month, changes were implemented at Cloud Chamber, which also saw the dismissal of key studio leaders after failing a significant developmental review.
As the BioShock 4 project continues to evolve, the team remains focused on refining the core elements that fans expect from the franchise while ensuring the game receives ample time for proper development.
