After creating the acclaimed game Ghostrunner, Polish studio One More Level has announced its next project: Valor Mortis. Set against the backdrop of the Napoleonic Wars, this game offers a unique take on history infused with horror elements. Players will navigate a world where a powerful substance named Nephtoglobin grants its users immense abilities but also transforms them into terrifying monsters. The protagonist, William, is a resurrected French soldier who has succumbed to the effects of this substance.

Valor Mortis is designed as a single-player Soulslike game, promising rigorous combat mechanics and a distinctive narrative style that combines precision melee combat with ranged options. The studio hints at a rich gameplay experience involving Metroidvania-inspired levels.

Scheduled for release in 2026, the game will be open for closed playtests shortly after Gamescom, allowing players a sneak peek at this innovative new title.
