World of Warcraft surprised fans with extensive details about Player Housing, highlighting its three core design principles: boundless self-expression, deep social interactions, and sustainable journeying. Players can expect improvements in how houses are acquired and visited within the game.

During a Warcraft Direct in November 2024, it was confirmed that Player Housing is coming in the Midnight expansion. Recently, executive producer Holly Longdale stated that exciting new information regarding Player Housing would be soon available in a WoW State of the Game letter.

Pillars of Player Housing in World of Warcraft

  1. Boundless Self-Expression
  2. Deeply Social
  3. Long-Lasting Journey

Upon its launch, two different housing zones are expected: an Alliance zone inspired by Elwynn Forest, Westfall, and Duskwood, and a Horde zone inspired by Durotar and its coastline, as well as Azshara. Future expansion plans will enhance these zones to prevent player dilution and ensure each area receives proper attention.

Fans can anticipate a rich variety of decorative options. “Hundreds of hundreds” of customizations will be available within the game, with limited purchases from the cash shop. Notably, World of Warcraft ties housing features with the Warbands system; however, decor items cater to cultural themes from the game’s diverse realms.

Housing will not incur high costs or introduce lotteries, unlike Final Fantasy 14, making homeownership easily attainable within the game.
