An unexpected comeback has made waves in the gaming world as Pirates, Vikings & Knights 2 has quietly reached its 1.0 release after a staggering 18 years in the making. The free multiplayer Source mod made its way to Steam back in 2010, with roots dating back to 2007. Developer Octoshark Studios proudly announced this milestone with a reflection on the passage of time: “It’s been over 6,500 days since PVKII was unleashed.” The new version introduces a fresh class and a host of balance adjustments designed to enhance the game experience.
Players can engage in thrilling team battles across various modes, ranging from traditional deathmatches to unique scenarios like Booty, where they must snatch treasure chests from rival factions.
PVK2 features 12 playable classes at launch, including the Buccaneer—a new addition—who serves as the tank for the pirate faction. Alongside impressive tweaks to existing classes and gameplay, the release also honors a late programmer, ZeroTron, whose passion left a lasting impact on the project. With the latest update now live, fans can download Pirates, Vikings & Knights 2 for free and enjoy a long-awaited round of gaming.
